Observation notes: Hot day, high eighties low nineties dry clear skies coastal sage scrub and riparian about 17 miles in from coast. on the edges of orange co riverside co and san diego co. This specimen was checking out tight buds on deer weed. went from shrub to shrub but mostly landing on the new buds or flowers. we saw pale swallow tail, and western. also painted lady, dusk's wing, female calif dog face, L. admiral, elfin, blues, clouds of moths mainly on oaks and in area of oaks, live oaks. ceanothus blooming, golden yarrow, buckwheat, monkey flower (red), deer weed.and a few others. some very drought resistant perennials blooming also. maybe got a quarter to a third of an inch three times since fall. very dry. some pools in stream bed a few springs.

Coordinator notes: This is correctly a Bramble Hairstreak, formerly called Callophrys perplexa. The Coastal Green Hairstreak is now called Callophrys viridis.
