Observation notes: 75, partly cloudy sky very dry, not much nectar host plants drying up also , saw a black butterfly with white spots fly by looked like yucca giant skipper. 1300 hrs also strange skipper looked like texas powder skipper as seen in butterflies through bino's . wrights metal mark white checkered skipper. other skippers. queens moths. we stopped at shelter valley in yucca field's to look for yucca giant skipper saw a black butterfly flying buy searching area on patrol. 3-4 ft off ground white spots on top side flew with in ten feet of me . most likely yucca skipper never landed mid day. saw so much cool stuff. need to get out early while they are warming up on ground.
