Observation notes: box canyon faces east west letting sun in most of the day, the rock walls stay warm and give off heat slowly all night to moderate the cold desert nights making it a prefect place for butterflies to roost at night, in winter months we wind groups of queens roosting in trees(desert willow or mesquite) also on shrubs 63 at 1030 photo later around 1300 high aprox 72 very little breeze, partly cloudy skies rain five days prior also monsoons over the summer have vegetation still lush for the desert. night time temps high thirties to low forties. lots of climbing milk vine in most canyons also some rush milkweed and white stem milkweed
