Cloudless Sulphur
Phoebis sennae

Observation date: November 26, 2013
Submitted by: Robert Gorman
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: around 1400 hrs one of the very last butterflies flying this day, was cooling quickly. Most had gone to roost. on sweet bush for nectar, and didn't like me chasing it off so it stayed until i got very close. then would fly a short distance to get more nectar. Older sulphur think cloudless? very large. didn't get a good look at topside high this day 70-72 and 63 on car temp gauge when i arrived 65 at 1430 when i left partly cloudy, cloud cover is better for photo's of light butterflies, less problems with reflection, over exposing image. lots of Coues' cassia in area, still blooming due to summer rain and starting to perk up due to rains five days ago. Saw and photographed cloudless larva green form on Coues' cassia will submit same day. saw a dainty sulphur after this photo. then it was to cold, they were roosting. all hard to find except queens they stand out on shrubs and trees because growth is so sparse in desert even in wet years.
