  Sighting 940056

Observation date: November 18, 2013
Submitted by: lmreid71
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: There were several Queens at the Bulverde/Spring Branch Library butterfly garden today, but this one looked different to me.
Status: Resident
Verified by: stomlins701
Verified date: November 18, 2013
Coordinator notes: On the underside, D. eresimus has very little white along the black veins, smaller spots along the wing border, and on the male--like this sighting--a scent patch parallel with the veining, not nearly perpendicular to it like a D. gillipus (note that the patch on the upperside hindwing on D. gilippus also looks parallel to the veining, just not on the underside). On the upperside forewings, the Queen has 3 white spots about a quarter of the way into the wing, which are missing on the Soldier.
