Observation notes: late afternoon, seems to be the time I'm able to get shots when the subjects will hold still. This colony must have been here for quite some time. lots of people have walked this trail and missed them. there on the map now. spent a long time trying to get a good shot. Had finally learned to set camera to macro. this butterfly would fly from ground to twigs staying still for a very long time very hard to follow flight there so small. it stayed in same area, seeking sunlight. lots of host plant in area dudleya live forever. we also find them in plum canyon borrego desert state park.
