Observation notes: We saw at least ten gph, vigorously rubbing there wings together to throw predators off attracting attention to the beautiful tails. mid day mid nineties mostly males, this day. about two months earlier heavy monsoon rains triggered growth and heavy blooms of shrubs and some annual's and swarms of some of the local butterflies, gph seemed to like to stay facing us, but mostly at a 90% angle to the suns powerful rays. Also mostly stayed in shade. would crawl deeper into shrub if feeling pressured. would nectar for long periods at what seemed to be dried out flowers. Seemed to stay at these shrubs most of the day once it warmed. very cool evening high fifties to low sixties. Anza Borrego Desert state park. Take only Photo's and leave only Footprints.
