Cloudless Sulphur
Phoebis sennae

Observation date: July 02, 2013
Submitted by: John429
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Although I reside in Michigan, I have spent my vacation in SW Florida every year for the last 28 years and am extremely familiar with the Cloudless Sulfur as it is quite common there. I was shocked to see one here in Michigan and shot as many photos as I could as it flew past me. It did not land, but having seen them flying in Florida, I am very confident that this is what this butterfly was. As a youth, I made a collection of over 2000 insects from this region of Michigan, so I am familiar with all of the native types of sulfurs and whites that are normally in this area. This was a shock to see here in Michigan, so I thought it might be of interest to you.
