Pink-spotted hawkmoth
Agrius cingulata

Observation date: August 13, 2013
Submitted by: bargecr90
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Located in East Texas in an unknown plant. Plant is similar in color to the caterpillar. Weather conditions are humid and warm.
Status: Resident
Verified by: stomlins701
Verified date: August 14, 2013
Coordinator notes: I believe the hanging plant is a sweet potato vine, and this is one of the food plants of the caterpillar of this species. When mature, it will burrow into the soil and form a pupa, then emerge as an adult possibly next month, if it does not overwinter.
