Observation notes: There were many specimens on the tops of milkweed leaves when the sun was shining on them. They retreated to the undersides of the leaves at dusk. The orange dot marks the sighting by my campsite, but there were many more caterpillars all around - even on milkweed leaves lining the highway nearby (37). The specimen in the photos is about one inch long.
