Observation notes: I was walking my dog on an asphalt road through a rural area in Anoka County, Minnesota. Grassy fields flank the road. The caterpillar (?) appeared dead until I nudged it. Then it wiggled from side to side. I was able to pick it up and move it back into the grassy field. When I did, I could see it had what looked like a huge mouth at the end where it bulges slightly. On the opposite end there is an eye-like marking on the top. I included the tip of my shoe in one photo so you can see the relative size.
