Striped Hairstreak
Satyrium liparops

Observation date: July 20, 2013
Submitted by: Jody
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Extremely windy, sunny day. Butterfly was clinging for dear life to the underside of the railing and flew away before I could photograph the uninjured side.
Status: Resident
Verified by: rosslayberry
Verified date: July 20, 2013
Coordinator notes: Hi, Jody, It is most unfortunate that both wings are damaged on the only side that you could see. But there is enough of the forewing remaining that I can see that the whitish lines are spaced very far apart, much wider than in the Hickory or Banded Hairstreaks. So it has to be a Striped Hairstreak. Ross
