Five-spotted hawkmoth
Manduca quinquemaculata

Observation date: July 14, 2013
Submitted by: contactbarker
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Found two in shadows on old cedar fence, shortly before dark. Both three inches long nose to rear end of wings. May have large dark eyes underneath by front legs. Back appears to have several bumps or vents, giving a vague spider face/eyes impression. Subject never moved, even when camera flash went off multiple times or when I was moving vegetation away for the pics.
