Observation notes: I had gone to see where the flood of 2011 had washed out HWY 5 where it crosses the Assiniboine River in Spruce Woods Provincial Park. The waters were receding by this time. Previously flooded ground next to the highway was covered with a number of different species of butterflies (I was able to photograph five species).
