Observation notes: Insect was spotted on a Pride of Madiera bush. Weather was clear, sunny, warm. When the insect flew, a bright, distinct flash of iridescent blue was visible, either at the wing base or it was the color of the abdomen itself -- I could not tell. Unfortunately, I could not get a photo of it in flight.
