Walnut sphinx
Amorpha juglandis

Observation notes: Rain last night, mix of sunny/overcast this morning. Temps have been cool for June. We worked in the woodpile yesterday and burned some old bark and I wondered if this moth might have been disturbed by our activity and that's why it ended up under my porch light this morning. I've never seen anything like it! My house is surrounded by mostly maple and locust trees with a couple of cherry trees and an ash tree. My field has locust, Osage Orange, and some black walnut trees. My neighbor has planted a bunch of oaks over the years.
