Desert Marble
Euchloe lotta

Observation date: March 10, 2012
Submitted by: opiliones
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Sunny, warm, breezy day. The individual was lying dead on the ground in a sandy, brushy area. Because of the breeze and the stiffness of the folded wings, I had to prop open the wings and weight the individual with a rock for one of the photos.
Status: Resident
Verified by: Ken Davenport
Verified date: February 11, 2013
Coordinator notes: he only similar looking butterfly here might be female form "deserti" of the Desert Orange-tip, but this appears to be lotta as you suspected. White females of A. cethura mojavensis are unusual in the region you found yours..
