Observation notes: Dormant on butterfly bush at edge of pine-oak woods and under maple trees on a hot sunny afternoon. Has similar but not identical markings of the Rosy Maple moth, Dryocampa rubicunda, but all photos of D. rubicunda have two bands of pink, not one wide band.
