Achemon sphinx
Eumorpha achemon

Observation date: July 11, 2012
Date notes: The time is rough approximation. We found the first of 3 caterpillars at 16:00 but other two within the following hours
Submitted by: grainwater
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: I am not sure if it is easily referenced to my previous submission but this is the similar species I talked about. They have the exact same markings and same "horn" on their tail but instead of green this one is brown/orange. The pictures are of the same specimen but we have two of these and one green one. This specimen was much more aggressive than the green one we found. It would curl up and start whipping its head side to side whenever we got close. We eventually cut the vine (of our grape vine) and put in an aquarium to observe.
