Bilobed Looper Moth
Megalographa biloba

Observation date: April 25, 2012
Date notes: Mid April
Submitted by: Sara Gardner Blow
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: This is the first year we have had these on our plants. They feed from blooms during the daytime with constant motion, reason for no photo without catching one. It certainly looks like a moth to me but I have not be able to see any like it on sites or books. It is about 1 and half inch wingspan. It feeds on a sage plant that is in full bloom, other flowers and now the honeysuckle. They will cover the sage plant at times.
Status: Resident

Coordinator notes: This is a worn specimen, but the bilobe wing mark of this species is apparent
