Anthocharis julia

Specimen type: Photograph

Coordinator notes: Joe, the orangetips have been re-assessed and re-arranged taxonomically (Stout 2018). Among the findings are (1) that adult wing markings can be unreliable; (2) that A. julia and A. thoosa may converge in northern Rio Arriba County; and that most other reports (specimens) from that area examined by Stout and colleagues match better with julia ssp. prestonorum based on 5th instar larva and pupal characters. Therefore, and although the photos are not definitive, I'm changing this ID to julia. it may not be the final word, but another stage of discussion. I will try to get up there this spring and get my own photos.
