Coordinator notes: Fresno County is south of Euphydryas colon populations found further north. The San Joaquin River Gorge has been collected by me several times and the checkerspots found there include E. chalcedona "sinecat" Scott (not accepted as valid ssp. by all), Euphydryas editha rubicunda and Chlosyne palla palla. Records from the Squaw Leap Trail were included in my publication on Yosemite Butterflies in 2004 and 2007.
