Giant sphinx
Cocytius antaeus

Observation date: April 05, 2012

Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Sunny day, 83 degree , around 1:00 PM at J.N. Ding Darling Nature Center Building in Sanibel, Florida; just sitting there under the covered entryway. ENORMOUS! Patterned like a Waved Sphinx, but how did it get this big? Wingspan looked to be about 7-8 inches. The fire alarm panel was about 7 inches and we also shot a pic with a pencil. It's driving me CRAZY!!!
