Western Tiger Swallowtail
Papilio rutulus

Observation date: July 01, 2008
Submitted by: calidris
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Working some flowers in the backyard
Status: Resident
Verified by: davidwdroppers
Verified date: April 23, 2012
Coordinator notes: This on is tricky. Given the yellow coloration and the flight time, this is likely a Western Tiger Swallowtail. A Pale Swallowtail should be rather worn at this time of the year. The black border is thicker than your typical Western Tiger, but not as thick as your typical Pale.
