Observation notes: This specimen was slightly over 2 ¾ inches. Another specimen collected was slightly larger still. Collection/observation sites were very near historic localities of S. coronis nr. coronis. Adults were flying fast and larval host plants (Viola species) were not observed (already senescent?).

Coordinator notes: It's a tough call between those 2 fritillaries. Your photos are good and I am basing my ID largely on the very large silver spots - a coronis trait. Sorry for the long wait on the ID!
