White-M Hairstreak
Parrhasius m album

Observation date: April 08, 2017
Submitted by: mmcmaste1
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Butterfly was iridescent blue in flight, which caught my eye. We have many red-banded hairstreaks in this forest, and this is the first hairstreak of any other sort I've seen there. It was in a sunny patch in an old-growth forest, one where kudzu was removed a few years ago. A lot of small weedy plants are growing up in the canopy gap.
