Observation notes: Sunny, breezy evening, about 60 degrees. The butterfly was flitting low on a wooded hillside with light underbrush, about 20 feet uphill from a small creek, landing frequently, but quickly flying again. Nearby were blue phlox, cutleaf toothwort, spring beauty, wild geranium, mayapple, oak, beech, buckeye.
