Observation notes: Afternoon These two males were battling on a hilltop above a stream with lots of mistletoe growing on willows and sycamore. At least two other Great Purple Hairstreaks were joining in the battle for the hill. also Pale swallowtail, painted lady, Anise, Bramble, Sara lower down, Dusky wing probably Funeral dusky. west coast lady and dusky also in the fight with red admiral. Hilltops seem to be one of the best spots for action early and late in the season!
