Common Buckeye
Junonia coenia

Observation date: November 18, 2016
Submitted by: tolbos
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: The fact that the butterfly's wings was not set yet drew my attention first. At closer inspection it looked like the butterfly had 4 wings of the same size and hinged in the same location, as if they would be directly on top of each other, as opposed to being next to each other. I have a few more photos I can send, unfortunately the website only permitted the upload of 2 (its my first time using this website). I hope someone can give some insight as to what this butterfly is and how it looks like once its wings got rigid. Thank you!
