Gulf Fritillary
Agraulis vanillae

Observation date: October 01, 2016
Submitted by: ponch512
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: There are dozens upon dozens of Gulf Fritillary eating away on our passion vine (as shown in second picture) I happened upon one caterpillar that had white spines, unlike all the others that have black. Trying to figure out if it's an albino or what.
Status: Resident
Verified by: stomlins701
Verified date: October 02, 2016
Coordinator notes: I think the caterpillar with the whitish spines just shed its skin, and that may be the reason for the coloration.
