Coordinator notes: You can reove the chrysalis to another location, once this individual pupates. Would suggest letting it harden-up for 1-2 days before removal. After removal I suggest putting a dab of Elmer's glue on a stick. (A toothpick is idela for placing a dab of glue on a desired spot.) The place the rear-end (cremaster) of the chrysalis on the dab of glue and let harden. This may take 1-2 hours. So use some handmade supports till the chrysalis and stick are solidly fastened. Then place the stick anywhere you like ... outdoors! The butterfly shouldn't eclose till next spring. There is a very very remote posibility it may still eclose this fall. The late-date for Spicebush Swallowtail in Pennsylvania is October 1st.
