Observation notes: Sunny, high 80's, not very humid. First seen on an ironweed flower, then fluttered over some goldenrod and dead stems beside the dirt and gravel road/path, which had been chemically defoliated within the last month. Nearby were mixed grasses, lespedeza, crown vetch, boneset, ironweed, goldenrod, common thistle, Japanese knotweed, autumn olive, multiflora rose, locust, sycamore, albizia, pin oak, poison ivy, honeysuckle vines.
