Observation notes: Sunny, high 80's, not very humid. There was a mixed group of seven or eight butterflies around an area of still-damp mud on the dirt and gravel road/path, which had been chemically defoliated within the last month. This section of the path had a great deal of dead moss and dead algae. Nearby were mixed grasses, lespedeza, crown vetch, boneset, ironweed, goldenrod, Japanese knotweed, autumn olive, multiflora rose, locust, sycamore, maple, pin oak, persimmon, grapevine, poison ivy.
