Observation notes: This red admiral landed on some gravel that was part of the railroad track base, near a shallow puddle of water that other butterflies may have been using, and adjacent to a wet, marshy meadow. It stayed resting there for several minutes, opening its wings briefly every minute or so. Its wings appeared to be somewhat tattered/damaged. No other members of this species were observed in the immediate vicinity.
