Observation notes: Warm sunny afternon, temperature in mid 80's F. Nectaring on heart-leaf buckwheat (Erigonum compositum) near the Grassy Knoll trailhead in Washington. Also in the meadow were midget phlox, paintbrush, blue gilia, Calochortus subalpinus. Common juniper (Juniperus communis montana) also present. The purple color on the wings is interesting and makes me wonder if this is subspecies barryi.
