Eastern Tiger Swallowtail
Papilio glaucus

Observation date: June 12, 2010
Submitted by: Jatson
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: On a warm, June day around noon, I noticed a lot of activity over the creek where there was heavy forest-remnant undergrowth. There was a swarm of 6-8 large swallowtail butterflies flitting around some ball-shaped flowers/fruit that had spikes. These were growing on some tall woodland plant that was hanging over the creek near the bend. I saw this activity in June, 2010. Never before and never since.
