Imperial moth
Eacles imperialis

Observation date: March 09, 2016
Submitted by: Kate Klauer
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: It's been getting relatively warm in PA lately. This pupa was found on the ground, not buried in the dirt. It's about 2 inches long and wiggles when touched or picked up. It has a sharp point on the tail of the pupa I'm assuming was used to hang from a branch or twig. It's very dark brown, almost black in color and the shell is quite hard.
