Mormon Metalmark
Apodemia mormo

Observation date: October 02, 2014
Submitted by: Josiah Gilbert
Specimen type: Photograph
Collection location: Josiah Gilbert (personal collection)
Observation notes: I saw a total of at least 7, maybe as many as 15 or more, since I could not tell which metalmarks I was seeing repeatedly. They were very hard to voucher, since they were not common. When I did find them they were quick, and landed infrequently. Also, since its chaparral there isn't a lot of chance to follow them, and I was on a steep hillside with poor footing at times. I only managed to collect three, which is probably not enough to provide a useful series for working out precisely what these metalmarks are.

Coordinator notes: This appears to be the Coast Range Apodemia mormo; likely blending with the cythera phenotype-Ken Davenport
