Observation notes: This moth was found near Loving, NM, in an area of mesquite, shin oak and a variety of grasses and forbs. In this picture, it appears to be on a dead blanketflower plant. Weather was partly cloudy to overcast, 70 degrees, humid. The moth did not seem to mind us getting quite close to take photos.
