Observation notes: Habitat: side of levee along hardwood-tree-and-brush-lined small spring water creek separating two areas of weedy shallow water impoundments (impoundments mostly dry at time). 2-3 of these butterflies seen (assumed same species). Nectaring on Verbena brasiliensis (?, shown in photo). Afternoon. Conditions: shortly after brief drizzle -- had been cloudy just prior to observation, but suddenly sunny; warm, light breeze.
