Observation notes: In the heat of the day, this creature (believed to be a female) was quietly flitting from flower to flower, taking whatever nectar was available - allowing a photograph or two . . . but not three. Suddenly, the skipper had vanished - but no, it had been prey to a spider, as shown in the second illustration.
