Ceraunus Blue
Hemiargus ceraunus

Observation date: August 28, 2015
Submitted by: Kristie Nelson
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: About mid-afternoon, saw the distinctive fluttering of a blue butterfly, which I've not seen in the Mono Basin, except for Plebejus, of late. It lacked the erratic, bouncy flight of a Marine Blue (I've seen quite a few of those this summer, and felt this had a different flight pattern as well as appearance). Landed finally, nectaring on Sweet White Clover.
Status: Stray

Coordinator notes: Very definitely ceraunus! While not new for Mono County, it is new from what I cover as part of the Yosemite fauna and worth putting in the Season Summary! Good going!-Ken Davenport
