Date notes: Saw this on my coneflower. Definitely a nectar drinker, I could see it's long tongue.

Observation notes: It's a hot, muggy, sunny day in the Berkshires. I was working in the garden and this beautiful critter sat for a good long time on my coneflower and I could see it's long tongue digging around in the flower for nectar. Such a beauty and I looked all over the web but couldn't find what it is. Not even sure if it's a butterfly.
