Zebra Swallowtail
Neographium marcellus

Observation date: June 23, 2015
Submitted by: Veggie Steve
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: I'd dumped some standing water, and as if someone had sent out a "Calling all Swallowtails" signal, this one showed up and began to drink. It was a warm, sunny day; the sun was setting, and the photograph was shot in the westering shadow of my house. The swallowtail drank, flew off, landed and drank some more, for quite a qwhile. I was so close, at times, I could see droplets fall from its nether regions, as it passed the water it had taken in.
