Pink-spotted hawkmoth
Agrius cingulata

Observation date: May 13, 2015
Submitted by: ilovebutterflies
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: I saw this creature on the branch of a palm tree outside my apartment in Tucson, AZ, around 6:20 in the evening on May 13, 2015. At 8:00 a.m. on May 14, 2015 it was in the same place.
Status: Resident

Coordinator notes: While the steep angle makes this a difficult id, from the pattern I do see, this has to be Agrius cingulata. Compare with this photo from bugguide.net and the two long black streaks, two "spots" near the forewing edge, and other wing and body markings are a match. SAT http://bugguide.net/node/view/718623
