Observation notes: ok so we saw dusk's at least two species, umber skipper, rural?, crescents, checkerspots, pacific orange tip, several blues, 1000+buckeye's, fritillary alfalfa hedgerow painted lady marbled and cabbages, sisters red, and lorquin's admiral gorgon, tortoise shell elfin two tail, anise, pale, west coast ,pipevine swallow tails. Hiking trails all over. there were lots of these checker spots everyday in several places mostly they seemed to like grasses. saw one laying an egg on monkey flower. i will post more as some seemed a little different. males were always chasing females, multiple males at a time also chasing each other. 75 clear day steady west wind most of the day oh did i forget monarchs. yes we saw quite a few every day in several areas, lots of butterflies on buckeye trees that were blooming amazing place. yes i'm biassed i grew up hiking these hills! or maybe i never grew up! thats what most people say Ha Ha!
