White-lined Sphinx
Hyles lineata

Observation date: April 18, 2015
Date notes: Sightings also took place on 04/16/2015 at dusk. My best guess is that these are the species: Hyles Lineata (based on image comparisons from other photos on your website).

Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: The moths arrive just after dusk, in a large group (10-15 moths) and are feeding on a large milkweed (Asclepias) plant in our yard. There are very large moths (when we first saw them we thought they were baby hummingbirds!)...as well as smaller ones. They are moving very fast, some of the photos are not super clear due to their constant motion.
