Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Caterpillars emerged late March on Ceanothus Concha and two were collected for identification. Caterpillars pupate to within 24 hours of each other and were kept indoors. After 10 days, the first butterfly emerged. In one image, the caterpillar can be seen. In the second image, the newly emerged butterfly is shown along with the second chrysalis/pupa. We expect pupa #2 to emerge in the next 24 hours. Sighting occurred in Redding, California at 1000 ft elevation.
