Zebra Swallowtail
Neographium marcellus

Observation date: March 29, 2015
Submitted by: jeffkillingsworth
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: She was flitting about on the edge of a cut timber/riparian buffer edge on a bright sunny morning after a cold night. Paused just long enough on this plant for me to snap a pic. Noticed then that she had laid an egg on the leaf. It was the new growth of a dwarf pawpaw (Asimina parviflora) that appears to have been browsed by deer last year. Lots of Salvia (lyrata?) blooming in timber cut.
