Observation notes: I noticed this 99% dead butterfly on my driveway in downtown Baton Rouge. The wings are a nondescript brown on their bottoms and are an intense, vivid blue surrounded by deep black on the top. It is extremely striking and is the only such butterfly I've seen during my 66 years living here. It apeared about 2 days after a hard and moderate freeze. I want to identify it so I can plant or encourage host plants.
